ASHOKA HOUSE

“No society can prosper if it aims at making things easier-instead it should aim at making people stronger.”
-Ashoka

This house has been named after the king Ashoka. Ashoka, who ruled India from 273 BC to 232 BC, is remembered as an impeccable warrior general and a shrewd statesman. An empathetic leader, who not only exalted his own sect but also focused on serving humanity. Tales of his bravery, and valor are a source of inspiration for today’s generation.

However, the most important lesson to learn from Ashoka’s life was his ability to transform himself through self-introspection. He meditated on his faults and mended his ways with drastic changes in his reaction to the same circumstances.

A fact rarely known about Ashoka is that besides being an exemplary leader, who advocated the path of dhamma to humanity, he was an effective communicator and a visionary. By translating his message of peace in multiple scripts and languages, Ashoka managed to reach out many people, transcending space and time. Even today his messages are relevant to humanity.

Just as ‘Ashok Chakra’ symbolizes eternal motion and progress, similarly our Blue House too is set upon the path of teaching students about sustainable and holistic development. The house has been named after him since many of our school’s values find resonance in Ashoka’s life defying the double score of centuries lying between him and us. The students of this house represent attributes such as integrity, courage, ambition, and intelligence.

The congenial atmosphere of our house helps our students develop and exhibit the spectrum of innate abilities and potential, drawing motivation from Ashoka’s attributes. It depicts bravery which inculcates in student that they should not fear any given situation in life and should confront all adversities bravely. Our house aims at building excellent communicators and visionaries whose achievements would leave a mark on the world.
