Literacy Declamation Contest
ON 6 September St Paul’s School hosted the inter school literacy Declamation contest with Power Point presentation in collaboration with DSLP, to commemorate international literacy day celebrated worldwide on 8th September.
DSLP (Delhi School Literacy Project) is a body of schools, founded 30 years back with the aim of spreading literacy in Delhi with the help of its students and teachers. At present DSLP is engaged not only in working for literacy but also in vocational training, remedial classes and community development work. It has more than 100 schools as its members.
To celebrate International Literacy Day DSLP organizes various competitions like drama, story writing, song, slogan writing etc. to create awareness about literacy and its importance. St. Paul’s has been actively involved in spreading literacy since 1989. Our school has been one of the few schools which joined DSLP in 1991. Initially we promoted “each one, teach one” and later shifted our focus to community development work. Currently St. Paul’s has adopted Basti at Begumpur and runs a centre for coaching along with remedial classes with the help of students of class 11th.
Seventeen schools participated in the event and it was a grand success.
The result was as follows
I PRIZE: Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan
II PRIZE: Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan
III PRIZE: St. George’s Alaknanda
III PRIZE: Holy Child Auxilium
